Laser Treatments

What is it and how does it work?

What is it and how does it work?

What is it and how does it work?

How Pico Laser Works

Pico lasers deliver extremely short pulses of energy, measured in picoseconds (trillionths of a second), creating a photoacoustic effect rather than relying on heat. This mechanical shockwave fragments pigment or tattoo ink particles into tiny pieces that the body can naturally eliminate while stimulating fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin medicalphysics. Compared to traditional lasers, this approach reduces thermal damage, lowers the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), and allows treatment across all skin types, including darker tones .

Skin Concerns Treated

Pico laser addresses a wide range of cosmetic skin issues, including:

  • Pigmentation and uneven tone: Sunspots, age spots, melasma, freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation 3.
  • Acne and surgical scars: Especially rolling and shallow boxcar scars; improvement occurs gradually through collagen remodeling 2.
  • Fine lines and wrinkles: Stimulates collagen for softening superficial lines and mild skin tightening 2.
  • Enlarged pores and dullness: Improves overall skin texture and brightness for a "pico glow" effect 2.
  • Tattoo removal: Effectively breaks down multi-colored inks with fewer sessions than Q-switched lasers 1.
  • Other conditions: Stretch marks, rosacea, lentigines, and certain birthmarks

What is it and how does it work?

Treatments can be performed all over the body and face. It is safe for use on all skin types, particularly those with darker skin tones.  Treatments start to show results after 1 to 2 sessions. But can take desired cosmetic goals up to 5 sessions with 2-4 weeks in between. Skin continues to improve over the next 3-6 months with the deeper layers of skin continuing the growth of collagen and elastin. The results can be long elastin depending on factors like skin condition, lifestyle, skin care, and even age.

Laser Pigmentation Removal

What is it and how does it work?

Pico lasers are a non-invasive procedure that employs ultra- short bursts of concentrated laser energy. The Term "Pico" refers to a picosecond, which is one trillionth of a second.

Pico lasers use State-of-the-art technology to address a wide variety of cosmetic skin issues. Picosecond laser technology combines the benefits of two highly effective wave lengths of light to create an intense, non thermal photomechanical disruption and remodeling of the upper dermis. This treatment is ideal for reducing discoloration and hyperpigmentation, reducing the size of pores, diminishes fine lines, wrinkles and even acne scars. The Pico laser shatters excess pigment or melanin while also stimulating new growth of collagen and elastin within the dermis. It delivers energy so rapidly without heating or damaging the tissue surrounding, causing pigments to break into tiny little particles allowing for easier removal by the body.

Q and As

What is cryolipolysis?
Cryolipolysis is the break down fat cells using cold temperatures. Unlike other cells, The fat cells are
particularly susceptible to the effects of cold. While the fat cells freeze, the skin and other structures are spared
from injury. Cryolipolysis is one of the most popular nonsurgical fat reduction treatments, with over 450,000
procedures performed worldwide.

Why choose cryoliplysis?

Patients who wish to reduce a localised fat bulge that has persisted despite diet and exercise may be
interested in cryolipolysis.

Who is not a candidate for cryolipolysis?

Patients with cold-related conditions, like cryoglobulinemia, cold urticaris and paroxysmal cold
hemoglobulinuria should not have cryolipolysis. Patients with loose skin or poor tone may not be suitable
candidates for the procedure.

Does cryolipolysis require anaesthesia?
This procedure is done without anaesthesia.
Cryolipolysis procedure
A consultation is required to discuss area /areas of concern. The TruCryo machine is then sprayed directly
across the area/s causing thermal shock cooling the treatment area locally. This is followed by lymphatic
massage the help flush away the broken-down fat cells and any associated toxins from the body. Treatment
time is around 20-45 minutes depending on number of areas treated.

What are the risks of cryolipolysis?
The complication rate is low and the satisfaction rate is high. There is a risk of surface irregularities and
asymmetry. Patients may not get the result they'd hoped for. Rarely, in less than 1 percent, patients may have
paradoxical fat hyperplasia, which is an unexpected increase in the number of fat cells. This is three times
more likely in men than in women and is seen more in those of Hispanic or Latino descent.
Recovering from cryolipolysis
There are no activity restrictions Following treatments.

What are the results of cryolipolysis?
Results can be seen immediately although the injured fat cells are gradually eliminated by the body as the cells
breakdown which can take up to 72 hours post treatment. Following a full course of treatment cells will
continue to breakdown up to 4 to 6 weeks post treatment. During that time the fatty bulge decreases in size,
with up to 20% fat reduction. Cryolipolysis is not an alternative to a Healthy diet and regular exercise
Proper post treatment care
There is no down time following treatment although it is normal for the treated area to be a little pink – this settles
within minutes. We advise you to drink plenty of water to enable the body to eliminate the crystallised fat cells.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation

Vagus Nerve is the largest cranial nerve in the body. It interfaces with the parasympathetic control of the heart, lungs, and digestive tract.

Stimulating the Vagus Nerve helps with increasing energy through the increased production of the feel-good hormones such as epinephrine, norepinephrine, and adrenaline

Additionally, the body will also start to increase its respiratory rate thereby increasing oxygen intake.
